Don’t forget Marie Antoinette, Wednesday’s doll.

I loved watching reruns of the Addams Family when I was a kid. Didn’t you?

Now my kids watch it, too.  They loved the movies, as well.

Several years ago, my daughter dressed up as Wednesday Addams. She got so many compliments that she decided to do it again this year. And now my son wants to join in, too.

So here is how we created my kids’ awesome Pugsley and Wednesday Addams Halloween costumes.

For the Wednesday Addams Halloween costume:

Her outfit is so easy.

Simply a white shirt with a Peter Pan collar, a black long-sleeved dress with white cuffs, and black tights and shoes. We didn’t have a long-sleeved black dress, but we live in Florida and it’s 80° on Halloween, so a short-sleeved dress was better anyway. 😉

Wednesday’s hair is simply in 2 long braids. If your Wednesday doesn’t have long hair, it is easy to make or buy a long dark wig and braid it yourself.

Wednesday’s face is pale, so no make-up is needed other than dark eyeliner smudges around her eyes. (Since my daughter can’t see without her glasses, those had to stay.)

Of course, the best part of Wednesday Addams Halloween costume is her headless doll, Marie Antoinette!

My daughter just popped the head off of one of her Barbies and dressed her in a black dress with our Ken doll’s black tuxedo jacket over that.  We couldn’t find a white shirt, but that along with a black skirt and the jacket over it would have been better.  Note: No Barbies were harmed in the making of this costume. She did put poor Barbie’s head back on the next day. 😉

By the way, it’s almost November…

His costume is super easy, too!

He wears a striped short-sleeved t-shirt, black shorts, striped knee socks, and black shoes.  Shhh, don’t say anything, but I think I have seen my son wear this outfit on a regular day (minus the knee socks) 😉

So, we already had all the clothes for this one!  We also put a smudge of black eyeliner around his eyes because that’s what he wanted.  Otherwise, Pugsley didn’t really have any makeup.

In several still shots of the Addams family, Pugsley has a small alligator on a leash.

So that would be an easy prop for your Pugsley.  Ironically, since we live in Florida, we didn’t have one.  So we used our blow-up alligator pool toy in the top picture, but I left him out of the other one so you could see “Pugsley’s” shoes. 😉

So there you go!  Easy no-fuss Pugsley and Wednesday Addams Halloween costumes.

Of course, one of the best parts of the Addams Family is the theme song. Enjoy!

Happy Halloween!

P. S. I promise my kids DO smile.  Honest!  They were just into character for these photos. 🙂  Here are some fun Halloween pretzels to make, too!
