So, to make it easy for you, here are some gift ideas, tasty recipes for Valentine’s Day treats + free printable bookmarks!

First of all, I must say that Valentine’s Day has always been kind of a weird holiday for me. You see, my birthday is February 11th (happy birthday to me 😉 and my parents’ anniversary was Valentine’s Day. So, I got birthday goodies like cake and presents on the 11th and then just a babysitter when my parents went out to eat for their anniversary dinner on the 14th! Of course, there were always the fun parties at school where we got to make our awesome boxes to hold our valentines, but still nothing much more than that.

In the 20 years I’ve been married, my hubby has always given me chocolate or flowers or we’ve occasionally gone out to eat. Working as a children’s librarian for so many years, it was such fun to give out treats after my Valentine’s Day programs and my own kids looked forward to fun parties at school, too. So even though my guys are teens now and I work at a college library helping students with research papers instead of reading picture books to toddlers, I still love giving and getting Valentine goodies. (And my family does, too.)

So here is a fun list of 11 easy to make, fun to eat Valentine’s Day treats that will make your littlest cupid all the way up to your grown up sweetheart be glad they are your valentine!

Pier 1

This stunning Coastal Art glass vase from Pier 1 looks like crashing waves. It will be perfect to hold a bouquet of Valentine flowers now, but will look just as lovely on its own.

Home Depot

As avid do-it-yourself-ers, my hubby and I are always at Lowe’s and Home Depot. (Please tell me we aren’t the only ones…) And believe it or not, I recently found these cute wall decals that are great because they just stick on and peel right off walls. My 16-year-old’s walls are painted bright purple and pink, and I think she would love these! She already has a few heart-shaped pillows, so these would be perfect!

The Lighter Side

I love the look of this sweet wooden frame. It’s okay for either men or women. I know my hubby wouldn’t think this is too “frou-frou” to sit on his desk at work, although he’d probably be even happier if I bought him a new miter saw so he could make his own. 😉 This would also make a terrific wedding present. Don’t you think so?
