An easy, sweet DIY teacher’s gift that’s not another coffee cup that your child can make and teachers will love?  Yes, please!

An easy, sweet DIY teacher's gift that your child can make and teachers will love? All you need is my print out quote from Eeyore, glue, and 3 sticks.

It can be difficult to come up with a memorable teacher’s gift that is unique.  And this DIY teacher’s gift is as simple as it gets.  All you need is the print out, glue, and 3 sticks, and it involves a beloved children’s book – Winnie the Pooh. Score!

Many years ago, when my son was very small, I found a picture of this craft. It was a sheet of paper with a printed quote that says:

“To the uneducated, an A is just 3 sticks.”  ~Winnie the Pooh (A. A. Milne)

They had attributed it to Winnie the Pooh, and I (I am embarrassed to say, being a children’s librarian) didn’t verify it.

Well, later I found out that it wasn’t Winnie the Pooh who said it in the book, it was Eeyore!

So the printable version I have for you correctly shows it’s from Eeyore, not Pooh, as you can see in the picture below. 🙂

Here are the directions:

Simply print out the sheet, and have your child find some sticks.  Break or cut the sticks so they fit nicely on the paper in the shape of a capital A. I used dots of hot glue to attach them to the paper, but any type of glue should work.

Let them dry and either mount it on a piece of cardboard or in a picture frame or shadowbox. Have your child sign it and put the year on it and that’s really all there is to it.

A simple gift that teachers will appreciate and your child will be proud of because they made it themselves.  And you will get extra mom points for sending in a unique gift. That is a win-win, right there!

Teacher’s gift printable

Here is the picture I took of my son’s masterpiece (attributed to Pooh and not Eeyore 🙁 ), but, as you can see, he was pretty proud of it and his teacher really liked it, too. (Sorry for the grainy quality, it was a while ago. He’s in 7th grade now!).

My son’s teacher gift that he made himself (mostly).

So, get out there with your little one to grab some sticks and get ready to show their teacher some appreciation for all they have done for their class this school year!

Another easy yet great DIY teacher’s gift idea we did when my son was in kindergarten was a coffee cup planter. Read about it here: Two gifts in one – a coffee cup planter is a great teacher’s gift!

What are some other awesome teacher gifts you have come up with?  I’d love to hear about them!
