I love going to baby showers! Since my kids are all teens now (as are my friends’ kids), I miss having the excuse to get all those tiny little baby clothes and fun toys! So, I was excited to recently attend my niece’s baby shower. She already has a sweet little girl and is now having a boy.

I wanted to give her a present that was both practical and cute.  I chose onesie cupcakes because they just look so sweet in the box and onesies are a new mom’s staple!

If you love Pinterest like me, you’ll see lots of versions of these cupcakes, in every color and what I like about them is that they work equally well for a boy or girl. And they are so easy to put together!

Here’s how to make onesie cupcakes!

You’ll need a onesie, a pair of baby socks, a cupcake wrapper and a cupcake box.

Lay the onesie out flat.  Simply fold it in thirds.

Fold the first side to the middle.

Then fold the other side to the middle.

Place the socks at one end of the onesie so that the toe of one and the top of the other hang out over the onesie. (The toe will be the candle on the top.)

Roll up the onesie.

Once it’s rolled up, fold the top part up and around the bottom of the onesie to keep the onesie from unrolling.

Here’s what it will look like:

Gently loosen and adjust the onesie so it looks like swirled icing.  Put the onesie cupcake in a cupcake wrapper. (The onesies I used were 0-3 mos. Your cupcakes will look more full if you use larger-sized onesies.)

Simply arrange all 4 onesies in the box and you are set.

Here they are all boxed up! Looks like something right from the bakery! 🙂
